The Federation of Neuroscience Societies in Latin American, the Caribbean and the Iberian Peninsula (FALAN) invites all interested in participating in the Satellite Courses under the 9th World Congress of Neuroscience IBRO 2015 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The satellite courses are:
1_ Cortical circuits: Anatomical, physiological and computational approaches to understand function and plasticity.
2_ Lessons from wild brains: the art of neuroethology.
3_ New roles for glial cells in health and disease – changing the focus from neurons.
4_ Neuroethics: a dialogue between philosophy and neuroscience.

The “Coimbra Group Scholarship Programme for Young Professors and Researchers from Latin American Universities” was launched for the first time in January 2004. This initiative, which offers grants to finance short-term research visits, aims at favouring mobility and academic exchange between the two regions, Europe and Latin America.

The Coimbra Group is an association of 37 European universities, which promotes exchanges between European and Latin American researchers and academics. This call for applications for research visit grants is one of the ways in which exchanges are supported.

The French Neuroscience Society, jointly with PERC-IBRO, offers support to a certain number of young South American researchers willing to attend the 12th meeting of the French Neuroscience Society, which will take place in Montpellier, in May 2015, and to visit French laboratories to find a post-doctoral position in France.

The candidates must currently live in Argentina, Brazil, Chile or Uruguay. They must be advanced students in their last year of their PhD program or young non-tenured researchers having obtained their PhD degree in the field of Neuroscience, in the last two years.
Previous to their arrival in France, the applicants are requested to contact at least two French laboratories for visiting appointments. The support is contingent upon proof of attendance at the meeting and confirmation of visit appointments by the French laboratories.

The following materials must be attached (please use PDF files):

• A curriculum vitae in English (or French) which should include: the research interests, the provisional or effective year of defense and title of the thesis, publications, congresses /workshops / courses attended indicating presentation type (oral or poster), prizes and grants received as well as current position,
• A copy of the invitation letters and/or confirmation of visiting appointments by French laboratories,
• A personal motivation letter,
• A recommendation letter from the supervisor.
