CALL FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE

YOUNG NEUROSCIENTISTS SYMPOSIUM

The Sociedad Chilena de Neurociencias (SCN) invites PhD students, postdocs and young researchers at initial career stages to participate in the “Young Neuroscientists Symposium” of the Congress. Applicants to this special symposium will be selected by competition, according to their scientific merits.

Bases:

  • There are four slots available. All selected participants will receive a registration and abstract fee waiver to participate in our meeting.
  • The awardees must attend the entire congress and hold their talk in
  • Up to two of the slots may be awarded to applicants with residence out of The remaining slots will be given to applicants from Chile.
  • Only one applicant from the same laboratory or research group can be

Applicants need to submit the following documentation:

  1. An English abstract describing the work to be presented (max. 250 words).
  2. A brief curriculum vitae including: Full name, nationality, date and place of birth, country of residence, affiliation, education, research experience, publications, meeting presentations and other relevant
  3. An informal letter of reference from the thesis advisor, postdoctoral advisor, or head of department.

Reunión Conjunta 2022

La Sociedad de Biología de Chile, en conjunto con la Sociedad de Ecología de Chile y la Sociedad Chilena de Neurociencia realizarán este año su Reunión anual durante los días 5,6 y 7 de Diciembre en el Hotel Enjoy de la ciudad de Pucón.

El Comité Organizador le extiende una cordial invitación a participar activamente en la organización de esta reunión, proponiendo Simposios, Conferencias u otras actividades afines que aborden temas actuales en las áreas disciplinares de cada sociedad participante, así como tópicos transversales de interés científico general. Adicionalmente les invitamos a proponer actividades de extensión a la comunidad local tales como charlas abiertas a la comunidad y/o actividades para los colegios, parte del compromiso de difusión de la ciencia de la sociedades científicas participantes.

IBRO-Larc / FALAN Travel Grants

IBRO will provide Travel Grants to help Young Investigators, Post-docs, PhD or MS Students to attend the 3rd FALAN Congress, to be held in Belem do Para, Brazil, from the 11th to the 14th September 2022. This grant will consist of up to US$ 1000 to cover costs of registration and partial travel expenses. Candidates must be members of a FALAN Society and participate in person at the Congress.

Only Young Investigators and Post-docs with a PhD title obtained within and no more than the last 5 years will be considered (female: 1 more year / child).

Brazilian Post-docs and Brazilian Young Investigators who have a Young Researcher Project at FAPESP are not eligible, as well as students who live in Belem and metropolitan areas of the city (radius of 100km).

How to Submit

Applicants must submit the application through the abstract submission form in the FALAN webpage (https://falan-ibrolarc.org). Please note that only participants who already registered and paid the registration fee in the Congress webpage (https://falan2022.com.br/) can apply for the grant.

Applications must include:

– Short CV (2 pages max) including: present position (specifying category as MS or PhD Students, Post-doc, or Young Investigator, and the year of obtaining the titles), education, 3 highest impact papers, 3 most important meeting presentations, awards.

– Abstract as presenting-first author.

– Confirmation of abstract submission (sent by the Congress webpage system once submitted).

– A short justification of the application to the grant, specifying the details of how it will be used (e.g.: travel costs, lodging).

– A letter proving the membership from the corresponding FALAN Society.

– Please declare if you received an IBRO-LARC Travel Grant in the last two years (2020-2022). Applicants with no previous grants will be prioritized.

More Information:

Applications will be evaluated by a FALAN Evaluating Committee and final approval will be awarded by IBRO-LARC. Travel grant awardees will be announced on July 4th 2022. Gender balance, equitable geographical and minority representation will be taken into consideration.

During the meeting, awardees must attend every day and they could be asked to get involved in different activities related to the meeting. Awardees are invited to include the IBRO logo on their posters. Reports on financed activities must be delivered (to secretaria@falan-ibrolarc.org) within a period not exceeding 60 days after the completion date of the activity.

Mátine de las artes presenta: “Valentina Descubre el Cerebro”

La nueva serie de teatro audiovisual de neurociencias para niños y niñas entre 4 y 6 años.

La serie se llama “Valentina Descubre el Cerebro” y en tres capítulos, repletos de música, colores y situaciones cotidianas, se acompaña el viaje de Valentina, una curiosa niña de 5 años, y su abuela neurocientífica, a través de las funciones del cerebro y su relación con las emociones, la memoria y los sentidos.

Este proyecto resulta del trabajo colaborativo entre profesionales de las neurociencias, las artes escénicas y la educación.  Fue desarrollado por la Facultad de Ciencias de la Universidad de Chile en estrecha colaboración con el Teatro Nescafé de las Artes y la Universidad de Santiago de Chile. Este proyecto fue financiado por el Ministerio de Ciencia.

3rd FALAN Congress 2022

Dear colleagues,

We are delighted to announce the 3rd Congress of the Federation of Latin American and Caribbean Neuroscience Societies (FALAN) and the XLIII Congress of the Brazilian Society for Neuroscience and Behavior (SBNeC), which will take place in the Hangar Convention and Fair Center of Amazon in Belém City, Pará, Brazil, from September the 11th to the 14th 2022.

This Congress will bring the most important updates, innovations and discussions through the participation of all invited speakers that will give their contributions to each one of us. Outstanding speakers as Edvard Moser (Medicine & Physiology Nobel Prize Laureate, 2014), Tracy Bale (Director of the Center for Epigenetic Research in Child Health & Brain Development – CERCH), Rommy Von Bernhardi (Dean Faculty for Health Sciences – University of San Sebastian, Chile), and many others are confirmed!

We expect to bring together approximately 2500 participants in the field of Neuroscience. The meeting will feature symposia, national and international lectures, and approximately 900 poster presentations in a vast diversity of subjects within Neuroscience. The International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) Latin American Regional Committee (LARC) is providing strong support.

FALAN 2022 will be held in a hybrid format but we encourage you to make all efforts to participate in person and enjoy all the beauty of the Historic City of Belém do Pará which is the main gate to the Brazilian Amazon and it is also well known abroad for the rich culture and creative gastronomy.
